4 Ways to Build Habits to Get More Organised🎯🏹
Aug 21, 2023"Success is the product of daily habits—not once-in-a-lifetime transformations."

A friend sent me a Happy new year message on New Year's Eve and asked me, "So, what is your New Year's resolution?" I said to her, "I am not there yet". After our chat that night, I reflected on the question about the resolution. We are focusing on the resolution as a result instead of the process. More than that, we focus more on BIG results, big resolutions, instead of small ones, like changing an old habit. It is like we want more success, but we hardly fight our procrastination habit. We want more clients but hardly get up early in the morning. We want more deals but cancel appointments more than we actually get going.
After the night's reflection, I decided to focus on (my) self-improvement instead of dreamy results. Being more organised is a must-have quality to be a new business owner. There are many things to do; nothing will happen if you are scattered around.
Here are some tips for building habits to get more organised:
- Morning routine. What kind of morning person are you? Waking up early, having a cup of coffee, a small exercise, a quick shower and hitting the traffic type? Sounds productive? Or are you waking up when the sun hits your window, meditation and delightful breakfast at the backyard terrace (with your homemade bread and jam? Sounds perfect. Whatever morning routine you have, it has to be a routine that makes your life easier. Starting early will surely help a lot. Still, the most important thing is that the habits should help you build a dynamic supporting your daily activities and productivity. Most successful people mention waking up early and tidying up will allow them to get more organised.
- Get an organiser. You can't manage things if they are abstracts in your head. You must complete yourself with a manual or digital organiser to assist with your daily tasks.
- Make a Priority list. Some people work hard, but they hardly reach their target. Why? Because they do many things at the same time. Making a priority list includes prioritising tasks: urgent, less urgent, meaningful, and less critical. Every day, put this list on your working table to ensure you don't waste your time on less necessary tasks and neglect an essential one.
- Extra time for "me time". Life is about balance. We can focus on doing better things in everyday life but don't forget to work on our inner selves. As humans, we also have unnecessary emotions in our professional life. We need time to look inside, self-reflect and evaluate our routine so we don't get burned out. We can't be productive when we get burned out because our system has become chaotic. Me time may include all activities that help us to feel relaxed, such as reading books, watching movies, exercising, meditation, crafting, cooking and doing hobbies and things we love.
