🦾Boost Your Self-Worth: Simple Fixes for Not Feeling Good Enough🧘
Sep 07, 2023Improving self-esteem is a journey, and it's normal to have ups and downs. Feeling not good enough is a common struggle many of us face, but we can take steps to address these feelings and improve our self-esteem.
⛔Warning: There is NO Instant Fix.
✨Try to find the reason WHY we always feel not good enough:
It is essential to know and understand ourselves. Sometimes, we realise that feeling not good enough will hold us back, but we can't help ourselves. Changing our mindset that we know we need to break ourselves and change the habit of feeling not good enough is the first step to fixing ourselves. Some people get the patterns from childhood through parenting or the school environment. When they are told they're not good enough, they tend to believe they are. Some people also feel that they are not good enough because they are perfectionists, which is one of the most dangerous self-sabotage habits. Before moving forward to our new goal, especially when doing our own business, we must understand that we don't have to be perfect to start something new.
✨Set Realistic Goals and Expectations:
Sometimes, feelings of not being good enough arise from setting unrealistic standards for ourselves. Break down your goals into smaller, achievable steps and celebrate your progress. Accept that perfection is unattainable and that making mistakes is a natural part of growth.
✨Focus on Strengths and Achievements:
To build confidence, we need to list our strengths, talents, and past achievements. We need to keep reminding ourselves of the times when we succeeded or overcame challenges. Reflecting on our accomplishments can help shift our focus away from feelings of inadequacy.
✨Stop Comparing Ourselves to Others:
We need to limit our time with social media. Scrolling down to get inspired and up to date is a good habit, but then feeling not good enough after that? We must admit that people share their successes, achievements and all good things on social media. From the positive side, we understand that flexing in social media is acceptable because people aim to inspire and express their gratitude. However, it is hard not to compare ourselves to others and reflect when exposed to content relatable to our condition. The best way is to limit our social media time and keep ourselves real by working on daily goals.
✨Challenge Negative Self-Talk and practise Self-compassion:
Paying attention to our inner dialogue and identifying negative or self-deprecating thoughts is essential. Challenge these thoughts by asking ourselves for evidence and considering alternative perspectives. Replace negative statements with more realistic and positive affirmations. The next step is to practise treating ourselves with the same kindness and understanding we would offer to a close friend. When we make a mistake or feel inadequate, we remind ourselves that everyone has flaws and experiences setbacks. Practice self-compassionate self-talk and avoid self-criticism. Be kind to yourself. Taking care of your physical and mental well-being can boost your self-esteem. Engage in activities you enjoy, prioritise healthy habits like exercise and proper sleep, and consider mindfulness practices to stay present and manage negative thoughts.
