🤔Have you heard about The Specialist and The Generalist?✨

As an engineer or technical person, I can understand myself as a specialist. As for a career, I spent years getting better at what I am good at as a technical person, and this helped a lot and proved to get me to lead high professionals in the technical services functions. However, the strange thing was when I got to the general manager position, the tricky question came to mind, "What's next?"

Freeman Dyson once mentioned, "Birds fly high in the air and survey broad vistas of mathematics out to the far horizon. They delight in concepts that unify our thinking and bring together diverse problems from different parts of the landscape. Frogs live in the mud below and see only the flowers that grow nearby. They delight in particular objects' details and solve problems one at a time."

The concept of "Birds and Frogs" has opened my mind to learning new and different things as a continuing growth process. I want to fly and see more things from a broader view. In my experience, it helps me get more clarity as I can see things now from different perspectives. It does not mean that everyone has to change themselves to become a generalist. The idea is this is a personal choice. At this moment, I think everyone can keep their options open, keep their mind open that everyone has different potential, even hidden potential that needs to be unlocked.

So, just because you are a technical individual does not mean you cannot create an opportunity by leveraging your experience and skills and sharing with the world. Hey, if it doesn't work, you get to choose your path. Let's spread our unique gifts.💛
