Nov 21, 2023Why can I say this? You may not know something about me that I will never forget and feel grateful for.
I attended a University in Yogyakarta, 💛UPN VETERAN Yogyakarta, Indonesia💛, for my bachelor's degree in mining Engineering. It was tough as my mum passed away when I was 9. And my dad passed away when I was 20 or in the middle of my time at university.
Even I was not 100% sure where my life would end up. I decided to take Mining Engineering at the time. I thought it would be challenging and different (I liked those two reasons). And hey, finishing my degree was tough, but I had no other option but to complete it and see where it would take me. I would say that was what my parents wanted from me: to have a qualification and a better life.
Long story short, I completed and worked as a Mining Engineer in the mining resources in Kalimantan, Indonesia. For about 2 years, not long at all compared to my time working in Australia, where I now reside. When I moved to work in Australia, I decided to start again as a Graduate Engineer, thought I wasn't sure about the culture, and English was not my first language. I worked hard and always pushed my limits from being an Engineer to becoming a General Manager for Mining Technical Services, most people know that Mining is a male-dominated workforce.
The point of my story is 💛Whoever You are and Wherever You Come From💛. 🔥Never Give Up on Pursuing Your BIG Dream🔥, and don't underestimate your desire to make an impact, even on a small scale. Most things start small.
Another thing is to thank my university (lecturers, staff and all my dear friends). You have no idea how grateful I am, and I will never forget. Thank You❤️.
So, FRIEND…when you are unsure about your life and have a massive dream. Remember, If I can do it, you can do it. Why? I am from a small village in Indonesia and was able to move to Australia to make a living, contribute, and make an impact. I would say all the people I worked with before that I enjoyed so much and learned from. Thank You❤️.
