Jul 22, 2023No one can avoid the game of “What if“ thoughts. If we can’t manage or control it, we can get crazy. Mostly the “What if“ thoughts come naturally.
The problem is when we have too many negative “What if” in our heads, affecting our actions and decisions.
The most popular negative “What if“ that we need to avoid is the “What IF I FAIL” mindset.
As Gary Klein, PhD, says, “A mindset is a belief that orients how we handle situations - the way we sort out what is going on and what we should do. Our mindsets help us spot opportunities but can also trap us in self-defeating cycles”.
When we think we are going to fail, then we are going to. It is why it is essential TO STOP the “What IF I Fail” mindset, as it has a new use.
Of course, it happens to me some of the time. It comes and goes and is annoying. I will not lie, and it is not easy. But I know what I have been through to get where I am today. The annoying part is, “What if” I fail badly? Hey, guess what? I am still alive and survived. Yes, everything is in my mind.
It is never easy, but that is how we learn. If we fail quickly, learn from it, improve/change and move on. It is how the power of mindset works. Instead of thinking, “What if I fail” change it to “ What if I WIN” or most of the time, I STOP the “ What if..” before it goes further. I just keep going and fight through my actions.
You have to keep your mind busy and stay active to stop “What if“ thoughts. Having a purpose in life is good, and the best way to avoid negative thoughts is to keep reminding ourselves that we have a purpose and that the present moment is the only thing we can control.
